Abstract

Recently, optical research and technology have demonstrated the feasibility of repeaterless high-capacity long-distance transmission. This work presents a numerical comparison of single- and multichannel-system capabilities using conventional and soliton transmission techniques in order to find the best way to exploit the fiber capacity.
