Novel fiber compositions and configurations and their applications

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

The use of rare earth transitions in various oxide, fluoride, and chalcogenide glasses are evaluated with emphasis on the competition between radiative emission and the nonradiative quenching processes. Methods of fabrication and uses of Bragg gratings in fibers are also discussed.
