Abstract
Space-division-multiplexing (SDM), time-division-multiplexing (TDM), and frequency-division-multiplexing (FDM) technologies are three options for coping with the problem of accepting higher volumes of traffic between network nodes. Which option or combination of options should be adopted depends on what kind of bottleneck exists in the communication network.
