Abstract

Starting from very different initial network architectures, CATV and Telco networks are converging on similar hybrid fiber/ coax designs to provide cost-effective networks for delivering broadband interactive services. Distributed-feedback (DFB) lasers are playing a key role in these networks. In this paper the design of broadband interactive networks and the use of DFB lasers in these networks are reviewed.
