Fire-resistant and cryogenic optical-fiber cable

Abstract

In recent years optical-fiber cables have been introduced into liquefied-natural gas (LNG) plants, as transmission lines of control systems. We have been engaged in developing and introducing cryogenic optical-fiber cables, which have the ability to transmit even in cases of unexpected accidents, such as an LNG leakage. In the present work we endeavored to improve the environment-resistant properties, and we succeeded in developing a cryogenic optical-fiber cable that is fire resistant. This makes transmission possible when there is a fire in the plant.
