Abstract

Fiber-optic microcell radio systems using subcarrier multiplexing1–3 have been discussed worldwide. One problem is the dynamic range of the optical link, which is restricted by CNR and IM3. We have studied the wide-dynamic-range technologies that can improve the CNR and IM3 characteristics of optical links. Here we show the performance of two prototype fiber-optic microcell radio systems and two wide-dynamic-range technologies.
