Abstract

Recently, an alternative solution to 1.3-µm Pr-doped fluoride fiber amplifier has been presented by S. Grubb. (Ref. 1): an all-silica diode-pumped 1.3-µm intracavity cascaded Raman amplifier. Although the physical problem is intricate (five coupled differential equations with boundary conditions to be solved), we have found a simple and accurate model of this device that can be used for optimization.
