Abstract

There is currently much interest in the use of high-power 1480-nm sources for the pumping of EDFAs, either for remote-pumping applications' or for producing high-power amplifiers. Miyajima et al. have previously shown that Tm:ZBLAN fiber lasers pumped at 1064 nm were capable of high-power operation2 in this wavelength region. In this paper we describe high-power ring lasers and fiber-grating pump lasers pumped by Nd:YAG and/or Nd:YLF diode-pumped solid-state lasers operating at 1064 and 1047 nm, respectively.
