Abstract

Photonic components that can perform mb-bit-duration wavelength switching are of great importance for advanced pho-tonic systems of which the throughput is often limited by guard times. Compatibility of 100-ps switching times with a NRZ signal at 10-Gbit/s has been shown over a 20-GHz excursion without bit-loss by using a three-contact bulk DFB laser.1
