Abstract

Wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) is emerging as a preferred route to exploit the transparency of erbium-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA) based systems to achieve high transmission capacity and optical networking capabilities. The gain spectra of EDFAs are important in determining the characteristics of multichannel systems.
