Abstract

In nonreturn to zero (NRZ) transmission over 9000 km, despite impressive results obtained in wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) at a channel rate Rc = 5 Gbit/s,1 and in single-channel with Rc = 10 Gbit/s and amplifier spacing Za = 33 km,2 to our knowledge no experiment or simulation has shown a transoceanic transmission at Rc = 10 Gbit/s with larger Za.
