Abstract

Electroabsorption modulators integrated distributed feedback laser diodes (EA/DFB-LDs)1 are promising light sources for high-bit-rate data transmission systems over a long distance because these light sources have the low wavelength chirp characteristics, and are as compact as one module and do not need complex control circuits like the LiNbO3 external modulators.
