Long unrepeatered transmission at 10 Gb/s using adiabatic soliton propagation

Abstract

We experimentally demonstrate transmission of 10 Gb/s data over 296 km with no in-line amplification. Adiabatic propagation of picosecond solitons is used to increase the launched optical power and obtain a power budget of>62 dB.
