Multiple Carrier Analog Transmission System with Er3+ Doped Planar Optical Waveguide Amplifiers

Abstract

We report for the first time the use of two types of Er3+ planar optical waveguide amplifiers in 77 channel CATV fiber links. Single and novel composite amplifiers in the headend and in cascade allow high quality broadcast transmission in terms of CNR, CTB and CSO over 52km of standard Allwave™ fiber.
