ALL-OPTICAL 3R REGENERATION AND FORMAT CONVERSION IN AN INTEGRATED SOA/DFB LASER

Abstract

The regeneration of data signals is likely to be a requirement of future TDM amd WDM networking schemes. As a data signal propagates through a network, it inevitably suffers degradation, chiefly through dispersion and accumulated noise from erbium doped fiber amplifiers. Some form of regeneration is thus likely to be required to combat this degradation.
