Abstract

The dynamic range of semiconductor optical amplifiers is increased considerably at high bit rates by amplifying dispersed WDM signals. We demonstrate a fivefold increase in the dynamic range in a WDM experiment at channel rates of 20 Gbit/s (7×20 Gbit/s).
