Capacity-Efficient Restoration for Optical Networks

Abstract

Traditional, ring-based restoration reserves half the network capacity for backup. Using generalized loopback, an alternate method for restoration, we show roughly 20% capacity enhancement and investigate tradeoffs between efficient capacity and robustness to double failures.
