Abstract

We experimentally show, for the first time, that optical 3R regeneration by synchronous modulation can be efficiently implemented in dispersion-managed transmissions. By taking advantage of the association of both techniques, we demonstrate a 40 Gbit/s single-channel transmission over more than 10,000km.
