Abstract

Raman amplification of 10 ps soliton pulses generated directly from an electroabsorption modulator based source have been adiabatically compressed in a Raman fibre amplifier, giving a pulse duration tunable source, 1-10 ps at 10GHz and average powers up to 650 mW, dependent on the magnitude of the amplification.
