Abstract

A technique for accurate measurement of the chromatic dispersion and length of single mode fiber is demonstrated using a novel Sagnac interferometer that employs an acousto-optic frequency-shifter. This requires no fast detection equipment and is suitable for measurement of installed fiber with tens of kilometers of length.
