OFC’01 Invited Talk The Internet of the Future

A remarkable expansion in the use of the Internet has spurred innovations in the networking infrastructure as well as exploration of new networked applications. But what we observe today is just a tip of the iceberg. This talk describes an array of potential new applications that will be running on the Internet of the future, and highlights the Internet infrastructure research - including the next generation optical networking and ultra high-speed wireless research - that are being pursued to bring about the new reality.
