Abstract

This is the first report on a wavelength converter utilizing cross-phase modulation in a semiconductor electroabsorption waveguide. We have successfully demonstrated 40 Gbps wavelength conversion with no dependence on the pattern length owing to a fast absorption recovery in the electroabsorption waveguide.
