Abstract
Usually, radio frequency transmissions have been used in wireless applications. The RF spectrum, however, is so congested that it is difficult to accommodate new high-bit-rate applications. Terrestrial optical free space communication (OFSC) in eye-safe 1550 nm band using the wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) technique offers high bit-rate, license-free, and secure services for connecting network nodes and subscribers.
