Abstract
As the rapid growth of broadband Internet services, e.g., CATV, ADSL and FTTH, demands for sending and receiving motion pictures through the Intranet have been increased in recent years. As the Internet users demand broadband Internet services, the developers of condominiums in Japan have started supplying condominiums where the Fast Ethernet network is already installed in order to enhance its commercial value. The data transmission rate of Local Area Network (LAN) in such condominiums is 100 Mbps at present, but it will shift to 1 Gbps in near future. Therefore, installing a data transmission medium, which is applicable to both 100 Mbps and 1 Gbps, is preferable for future upgrading of the LAN system.
