Abstract

The 980 nm pump module market has been marked by a continuing demand for higher output power per module. Single mode laser diodes capable of delivering ever-increasing powers under extremely stringent reliability specifications enable module manufacturers to meet this demand.A typical requirement for the use in submarine cable systems is 100 FIT (100 failures in 109 device hours), or 10,000,000 hours MTTF, under full rated power.
