Abstract

The interest in fiber Raman amplifiers (FRAs) have been intensely heightened, because of the several advantages, such as the remarkable noise reduction with the distributed amplification, 1 the extension of the usable optical bandwidth by op-timizing the pumping lightwave spectrum, 2,3 and so on. Especially, from the viewpoint of the effective use of the low-loss optical fiber window, a seamless optical amplification over almost 100 nm-bandwidth is attractive in comparison with the aggregate of EDFAs for C- and L- band, and TDFAs for S-band.4
