Abstract

The intelligent optical networks paradigm, where optical cross-connects are interconnected with WDM links, requires tight integration between the IP and the optical layer such that: the nonhomogeneity of the optical layer is taken into account during the routing process; there is mapping of the QoS requirements down to the optical layer.
