Abstract

Super continuum (SC) is the useful laser source for recent WDM optical communication system, optoelectronics, optical measurement, etc. Several groups have investigated the generation of such SC laser source.1 In those works, in order to generate SC, it is necessary to use a few hundred meter long fiber or the high power ultrashort pulse laser. Recently, the widely broadened SC generation has been reported using high power ultrashort pulse laser and photonic crystal fibers.2 Then we have demonstrated the compact system of widely broadened SC generation using highly nonlinear fiber and fiber laser.3 In this system, the widely broadened and almost flat SC whose bandwidth is 700 nm has been generated.
