Abstract

Dispersion management techniques, which reduce the waveform distortion that is caused by fiber nonlinear effects, are very important steps in achieving a high-capacity, long-haul transmission system. To reduce the inter-channel crosstalk caused by four-wave mixing and cross-phase modulation, it is desirable that the dispersion per unit of fiber length (ps/nm/km) is as large as pos-sible.
