Linear Optical Amplifier for Extended Reach in CWDM Transmission Systems

Abstract

We demonstrate extended reach for selected CWDM channels using a linear optical amplifier (LOA). Error-free transmission over 125km of AllWave® fiber was achieved with no indication of nonlinear impairments due to the LOA.
