Exact Ab-Initio Modeling of Arrayed-Waveguide Gratings

Abstract

For the first time a complete ab-initio calculation of AWG's including coupling and defocus is presented. The full paraxial approximation together with an ortho-normal basis (ONB) expansion of the modes and a unitary approximation of the transfer matrix is used.
