Frequency and Mode Control of Tunable External Cavity Semiconductor Lasers

Abstract

Dither-free optically-based servo control locks frequency, optimizes SMSR and prevents mode hops in MEMS grating-tuned external cavity semiconductor lasers that demonstrate environmentally robust stability of ± 1.0 GHz and ± 0.2 dB over 5 THz.
