Design of Hybrid Waveband-Switched Networks with OEO Traffic Grooming

Abstract

We demonstrate that WDM mesh networks consisting of hybrid hierarchical switches (with all-optical waveband switching and OEO traffic grooming) can significantly reduce cost over conventional OEO networks. We also present heuristics to design such networks.
