Abstract
An improved technique for tracking principal states of polarization(PSP) independent of the effect of ASE noise was demonstrated. It was also demonstrated that the improved OSNR monitoring methods using this technique reduce effects of PMD and extinction ratio of PBS. The methods showed an OSNR measurement error of less than 0.8dB even in presence of large PMD.
