A comparison of measurement techniques for differential group delay in a long-haul optical system

Abstract

We compare five methods for measuring the DGD in a long-haul system. The commonly-used JME method is insensitive to PDL, but sensitive to Stokes noise. The other methods are more sensitive to PDL.
