Experimental Comparison of DPSK and OOK Modulation Formats over Slope-Matched Fiber Spans

Abstract

The DPSK and OOK modulation formats were compared experimentally over transoceanic distances with slope-matched fiber spans. Our results show a 2-3 dB DPSK benefit exists for a wide range of channel powers and transmission distances.
