Water-core microstructure fiber for optical sensing

Abstract

A novel type of sensor fiber has an aqueous core surrounded by a microstructured silica-air cladding. Simulations demonstrate single-mode, low-loss operation and nearly perfect overlap with the sample over a wide wavelength range.
