Abstract

A high power, broadband tuneable laser module operating over the C-band is presented which is based upon a monolithically integrated DS-DBR tuneable laser and semiconductor optical amplifier. These modules have been calibrated to achieve 80 channels at 50GHz spacing with minimum channel powers of 13.5dBm and SMSR greater than 40dB. RIN and linewidth measurements confirm that feedback from the SOA has minimal effect on the tuning performance of the DS-DBR.
