40-Gb/s S-Band WDM Transmission Over Installed Fiber Links Using Erbium-Based Fiber Amplifiers

Abstract

We demonstrate 8×40-Gb/s WDM transmission in the S-band using only erbium-based amplifier technology. It is shown that these amplifiers enable transmission over multiple non-optimized spans of installed SSMF in the Deutsche Telekom network of Berlin.
