All-Optical ASK Header and DPSK Payload Separator

Abstract

We demonstrate an all-optical scheme to separate ASK header and DPSK payload based on cross-gain-modulation and nonlinear polarization rotation in semiconductor optical amplifiers. The scheme is automatic and does not require any external header detector.
