Abstract

Laser processing is a powerful tool for realizing highly functional silica-based PLCs that can provide simple methods for tuning device characteristics and enhance new functionalities. This letter reviews laser processing technologies for silica-based PLCs. Furthermore, this letter describes flat-top AWG spectrum tilt compensation and three-dimensional waveguide interconnection using laser processing.
