Backoff-Channel Contention Resolution in Optical Networks

Abstract

We propose Backoff-Channel Contention Resolution (BCCR) as a means of improving throughput in optical switched networks. Using BCCR, blocking can be reduced by orders of magnitude with little or no modification to existing hardware.
