On the Use of MLSE with Non-Optimal Demodulation Filtering for Optical Duobinary Transmission

Abstract

We experimentally study the use of MLSE electronic equalization with optical duobinary signals demodulated with non-optimal narrowband optical filters. Significant improvement can be obtained for overly wide filters and sub-optimal filter shapes.
