Fiber Laser Wavelength Tuning on a Silicon Chip

Abstract

Tunable silicon microring filters are used to implement CMOS compatible tuning of fiber-lasers. A micro-heater is used to tune the Si microring filter, demonstrating tuning of 1.5 nm with linewidths narrower than 0.02 nm.
