Modal and Chromatic Dispersions Interference in VCSEL and MMF based Gigabit Ethernet Link

Abstract

VCSEL spectral width is wide enough to yield significant chromatic dispersion impairments in 10GbE link longer than 300m. We demonstrate that chromatic dispersion can be compensated for by the multimodal nature of the VCSEL.
