40-Gb/s MIMO-OFDM-PON Using Polarization Multiplexing and Direct-Detection

Abstract

We propose and experimentally demonstrate the first 40-Gb/s MIMO-OFDM-PON. Superior performance over 20 km SSMF plus 15 dB attenuation is reported using polarization multiplexing and direct photo-detection, thereby significantly reducing implementation complexity and cost.
