Abstract
We experimentally investigate the performance of ultra low loss (ULL) fibre for 43 Gbps WDM transmission. Combination of ULL fibre with NRZ-DPSK and hybrid Raman-EDFA amplification enables record transmission distance of 4400 km on G.652 fibre, while implementation of simpler modulation format (NRZ-OOK) and amplification scheme (EDFA only) enables to reach 1600 km at 43 Gbps line rate.
