Abstract

We demonstrate 40 GHz repetition sub-picosecond optical pulse generation from a LiNbO3 Mach-Zehnder modulator by inserting it in a fiber-loop then using nonlinear pulse compression by dual-stage self-phase modulation. Application to 320 Gb/s signal generation is shown.
