Abstract

We investigate the efficacy of nonlinearity compensation for single channel 14Gbaud PDM QAM16 over an uncompensated SMF link without Raman amplification. Nonlinear compensation increased the maximum reach from 1440km to 2400km for an FEC limit of 3×103.
