Abstract

We demonstrate simultaneous monitoring of the optical signal to noise ratio (OSNR) for wavelength-division multiplexed 40 Gb/s signals using the back-reflected Stokes wave from Stimulated Brillouin Scattering. A highly sensitive OSNR range of 5-25 dB is observed.
